The Jetta S is equipped with a 1.4 liter TSI, 16-valve DOHC in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine that offers 147 horsepower and 184 foot-pounds of torque. A six-speed manual transmission allows the driver to have more control behind the wheel. The combination of the turbocharged engine and manual transmission lends a sporty, exhilarating feel to the handling of the car. Volkswagen is committed to providing a safe vehicle, and the Jetta S features both active and passive safety measures to further the goal of a safe ride. Should a crash occur causing airbags to deploy, the Intelligent Crash Response System goes to work. The Jetta S is equipped with seven stability-enhancing systems to help drivers to maintain control when conditions cause surprises on the road. Those systems include Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution and Electronic Stability Control as well as an Anti-lock Braking System with Engine Brake Assist. An integrated Tire Pressure Monitoring System helps to mitigate the potential for a blow-out by warning drivers when tires are not aired appropriately.

Like other Jetta models, the Jetta S is equipped with Volkswagen Car-Net App-Connect technology. With App-Connect a compatible smartphone can be plugged into the system to make selected apps available from the touchscreen of the Jetta. BlueTooth technology makes streaming from a compatible device easier. Drivers can personalize the information displayed on the touchscreen. A Rearview Camera System is integrated into the Jetta S and allows drivers to more easily see what lies behind the car as they are backing. With the available Driver Assistance package, drivers will benefit from features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking.
